Massage and facial rituals, on a heated bed
Every ritual uses GROUND Wellbeing, the Irish range that is 100% natural, vegan and plant-based. If you are pregnant or have a medical condition, just let us know on the consultation form when you book.

Arrive at 10am, 11.30am, 1pm or 2.30pm. A robe, your aroma, a ritual, the lounge with a heated eye mask, and a one-course lunch from the spa menu, or supper on a later start. No pool, no queues, no clock.

The infrared sauna
The Soak RoomAn hour of heat, or forty-five minutes of water
The infrared sauna is a cedar cabin in its own suite, booked by the hour for one to four of you, with robes and slippers and the lounge with refreshments afterwards: £40 for one, £60 for two, £80 for three, £100 for four. Infrared warms you rather than the air, so it runs gentler than a traditional sauna and most people are comfortable for the whole hour. Have it before a massage and the muscles are warm when the therapist starts.
Next door is the Soak Room: a deep freestanding bath under the window of a stone room, drawn to temperature with Himalayan salts and GROUND oils, a body scrub to start and a body oil and face balm to finish, 45 minutes with a heated eye mask and your choice of quiet music or a guided meditation. Five rituals: Deep Sleep, Awakening, Restore, Warming Muscle Recovery, and the Mother to Be soak with pregnancy-safe salts. The Soak Room is booked by phone.

The Farmhouse to yourselves
For a hen party, a baby shower, a big birthday or the bridal party on the morning of the wedding: both treatment rooms, both lounges and the garden, closed to everyone else for six hours. Arrive at 9.30am, 12.30pm or 4pm; robes and slippers, your aromas chosen, a 60-minute treatment each, a welcome drink (Prosecco, a cocktail or a lager), a buffet or a one-course lunch with sweet treats, your own music, and the garden in season.
£1,600 for six. The Luxury Exclusive Hire, £1,750 for six, adds half an hour more of the place, a facial masterclass and a gift to take home. More than six, and the spa team build the day round you. Extras if you want them: a guided meditation, yoga, a 20-minute LED mask session, drinks packages.

Irish, 100% natural, and made for slow hands
We work with GROUND Wellbeing, the award-winning Irish skincare company whose oils, balms and Biome range are 100% vegan and made from sustainably sourced botanicals, for rituals that calm the mind, nourish the body and put things back in balance. You pick your aroma at the start of every visit, and the rituals are built round it.
To carry on at home, the GROUND collection is on the dresser at The Farmhouse: skincare, the sleep rituals, essential oils and gift sets. Ask your therapist what she used.

Tina, on GoogleSixteen questions, answered
Do we need to book ahead?
Yes. There are two treatment rooms and they fill, especially at weekends, so book online as soon as you know the day. The late availability panel on this page shows what is free this week if you are hoping for sooner.
What should we wear?
Whatever is comfortable; you change into a robe and slippers when you arrive, and there is a changing room with a toilet at The Farmhouse. No pool, so no swimwear needed for a treatment or a spa day; for the sauna bring swimwear or use a towel. Leave valuables at home or in your room, as there are no lockers.
Do we have to be staying at the hotel?
No. The Farmhouse is open to everyone, and most of the people in the lounge on any given day have driven over for the afternoon. Hotel guests simply have the shortest walk back to bed.
Are the treatments for everyone?
Yes. Every ritual on the menu suits men and women; the only ones with a condition attached are the two pregnancy rituals.
Can we ask for a particular therapist?
Yes, add the name in the booking notes when you book online, or tell us on the phone. We will do our best; it depends on the day.
What if we have a health condition, or are pregnant?
Tell us before you come, on the consultation form you fill in when you book, and Claire, the Spa Manager, will ring if there is anything to talk through. Some rituals are not suitable in pregnancy or with certain conditions; the two pregnancy rituals and the facials usually are, from the second trimester. Please note that there are steps into The Farmhouse and up to the treatment rooms.
How do we pay, and what if we need to cancel?
Treatments and spa days are paid in full when you book, by card, unless they are part of a hotel package or paid with a voucher. The cancellation terms are shown before you pay; if your plans change, ring us as early as you can on 01422 240024 and we will do what we can with the diary.
How do we use a gift voucher?
Ring 01422 240024 with the voucher number and we book you in against it. Vouchers are for any treatment, spa day or amount, and last twelve months. Buy one here.
Is there an age limit?
The Farmhouse is for guests aged 18 and over.
Is there a pool or a steam room?
No. The Farmhouse is a treatment-led spa: two private treatment rooms, two relaxation lounges, a private infrared sauna you book by the hour, and the Soak Room. If you want a thermal suite and a pool, we are not it; if you want an hour and a half of quiet and a treatment done properly, we are.
Is there a relaxation lounge?
Two, with an open fire, and you can stay as long as you like after your treatment. Every treatment and spa day includes time in them; arrive fifteen minutes early for a treatment and settle in before it.
Can we book a spa day?
Yes: the half day, the Signature day, the Pregnancy Pause, the Couples Retreat and the seasonal day, for one to four of you, all bookable online above. For a group with the place to yourselves, see private hire.
What makes The Farmhouse different from a spa?
No pool, no thermal suite, no crowd. Two private treatment rooms, two lounges, a private sauna and the Soak Room, with every ritual using 100% natural, vegan GROUND products and a therapist who has an hour for you. People come for the treatment, done properly, and the quiet either side of it.
Can we book more than one treatment, or book for two?
You can book consecutive treatments for yourself online. For two of you, book one each (each person needs their own booking) and add a note that you are together, or ring 01422 240024 and we will put you side by side in Mallow and Thyme.
Where do we park?
In the hotel car park, free, by the front door. Come into reception and we walk you over to The Farmhouse through the gardens; it takes two minutes.
Where exactly is The Farmhouse?
In the grounds of Holdsworth House, Holdsworth Road, Halifax HX2 9TG, across the paddock from the hotel. Ten minutes from the centre of Halifax, twenty from Hebden Bridge, under an hour from Leeds. Satnavs find the hotel; follow the signs for the car park.
Pick a day, we will do the rest
Book online in a minute, or ring reception on 01422 240024 if you would rather talk it through, are booking for more than one of you, want a treatment added to a stay, or have a voucher to use.
