The Wellbeing Escape
A 60-minute massage ritual at The Farmhouse Treatment Rooms, dinner in our restaurant and a night in a House room. No pool, no crowds, no rush.

A farmhouse spa, not a leisure club
The Farmhouse Treatment Rooms sit in the grounds, a two-minute walk through the gardens from reception, and this year they’re a finalist at the Good Spa Guide Awards 2026, for Best New Spa and Best Spa in the North East. Unlike the large commercial spas, you won’t find crowds of people here, and there’s no pool. A member of the team walks you over, a robe and slippers are waiting, and you choose the scent for your treatment from the GROUND Wellbeing range. The whole experience is focused on peace, privacy and taking your time.

The ritual of your choice
Massage rituals with GROUND Wellbeing, the Irish skincare brand that’s 100 percent vegan, tailored to what you need that day: Grounding, Restorative, whichever the week has asked for. Facials and the longer rituals can be booked as an upgrade, and pregnancy massage is on the menu too. Should you wish, add a treatment for your other half when you book and we’ll do our best to treat you side by side.

The lounges, and the fire
Nobody hurries you out. Sink into one of our two serene relaxation lounges, with deep sofas and an open fire, a pot of herbal tea and a heated eye mask if you’d like one. Our private soak room and infrared sauna suite can be booked by the hour, just for you.

Dinner in the old house
£40 per person towards dinner in one of our three intimate dining rooms, each with its own open fire. Head Chef Matt Rush’s seasonal à la carte has something for everyone, and there are non-alcoholic wines and cocktails alongside the wine list. We can cater for most dietary requirements on request; just tell us when you book. The Long Bar is there for something before or after.

Your room, and a bed you won’t want to leave
Each of our House doubles and twins is uniquely decorated: William Morris wallpapers, cosy occasional chairs, proper pillows, White Company toiletries and a tray with real coffee. Some rooms have a bath with a shower over it, some a walk-in shower, and a few have both, so tell us which you’d prefer when you book. Should you wish, you can upgrade to a split-level or executive suite when you book, and if you’ve stayed with us before and have a favourite room, just let us know. We’ll always do our best. The house goes quiet early.

Our famous Yorkshire breakfast, cooked to order
The full Yorkshire, eggs Benedict, pancakes with maple syrup, or something lighter from the continental table. Check-out is 11am; add the late check-out when you book if the massage did its job.

A Google review of The Farmhouse Treatment RoomsSeven questions, answered
Which treatments can I choose?
Any 60-minute massage ritual from The Farmhouse menu. Facials and the longer rituals can be booked as an upgrade; the team will talk you through the difference when they ring.
Can my partner have a treatment too?
Yes. Add a second treatment when you book, or ring reception. Couples can be treated side by side in the large room when the diary allows.
Is there a pool or a sauna?
No pool. There’s a private infrared sauna suite, booked by the hour for sole use, from £40. The Farmhouse is about treatments and quiet, not a wet spa.
When is the treatment?
Whenever suits you and the diary: the afternoon you arrive or the morning after. A member of the team rings after you book to fix it.
Can I book it for one?
Yes. Single occupancy is on the booking page.
Does the room have a bath or a shower?
It depends on the room. Some have a bath with a shower over it, some a walk-in shower, and a few have both: the split-level suites all have a bath with a shower over it, three of the executive suites have a bath and a separate walk-in shower, and the other three a large walk-in shower. Tell us which you’d prefer when you book. If the room you’re given isn’t right, just say at reception and if there’s something else free we’ll happily move you.
What if we need to cancel?
Packages are paid in full when you book. Cancel seven days or more before arrival and the whole amount is refunded; inside seven days there is no refund. Ring reception on 01422 240024 if your dates need to move and we will do what we can.
