Tell us the date and we hold it for 14 days with no obligation, so you can book the registrar and sleep on it. A £2,000 non-refundable, non-transferable deposit then confirms the date (for weddings of 20 guests or fewer, a percentage of the estimated cost instead). If no deposit arrives within the 14 days the hold is released automatically.

In instalments through the run-up: 25% of the balance twelve months before, 25% at nine months, 25% at six months, 20% at four months, and the final balance three weeks before the wedding, adjusted for your final numbers and menu.

From £2,395 for the two of you to £22,495 for the Signature package with 120 day and 150 evening guests on a summer Saturday. Most weddings sit between: the Signature package is £6,995 for 40 guests midweek and £9,495 for 60, and four packages come in under £5,000. Every price is on the packages page, and the date changes the price more than anything else: midweek and winter are where the savings are.

The package price includes the ceremony room, the reception rooms, the food and the drinks it lists, the DJ where it says so, and the honeymoon suite. It does not include the registrar, an outdoor ceremony fee between May and September (£500 for the gardens or Colonnade Courtyard, £750 for the Barn Courtyard), guest bedrooms, or upgrades such as more canapés, a higher drinks package or a bigger evening buffet. Exclusive use of the house is an add-on.

No. We do not offer corkage and alcohol brought onto the property is confiscated, with a charge to the couple under the contract. The three drinks packages on the menus page are chosen with our Master of Wine and package one is already in the Signature price, so the answer to "what do we drink" is usually already solved.

Only in the summer, and only at weekends. From 1 April to 30 September a Saturday needs at least 80 day and 100 evening guests, and a Friday 60 day and 80 evening. Sunday to Thursday there are no minimum numbers at any time of year, and from October to March there are none on any day. Children do not count towards minimums but are in your final numbers.

Up to 120 guests, including the two of you, for the ceremony and the seated wedding breakfast in the Stuart Room, and up to 150 for the evening party. Smaller rooms take smaller weddings: the Abraham Brigg Room 80, the Hall 40, the Regency Room 60 from May 2027, and the first-floor rooms 20 each. The ceremony rooms page has all ten.

One. Whatever the size and whatever the day, the wedding in the house is the only wedding in the house, and the team and the kitchen are yours for it.

Three are built for it, all midweek. Just Good Friends (£4,750 in 2027, Sunday to Thursday): canapés, four courses, a Prosecco toast and the honeymoon suite for 20, with an evening party for up to 150 as an option. The Vintage Tea Party (£3,500, Monday to Thursday): a ceremony, Champagne and canapés and a full afternoon tea on vintage crockery for 20. The Stone Gazebo (£3,500, Monday to Thursday): ten of you in the 1633 gazebo, then four courses in the house. For just the two of you there is an elopement package at £2,395. The Signature package, priced in bands of 40 day and 60 evening guests (£6,995 midweek, £7,495 on a winter Friday or Saturday, £8,995 on a summer one in 2027) or 60 and 80 (£9,495, £10,495, £12,495). Unless you take exclusive use, there may be hotel guests and restaurant diners on site, but they have no access to the rooms set aside for your wedding, and while a wedding is on we do not take honeymooning couples or guests going to weddings elsewhere. Exclusive use closes the house to everyone but you, with all 32 bedrooms included.

The ceremony and the wedding breakfast are in the Stuart Room, the evening spills into the courtyard, and the price includes the rooms, three canapés, four courses with a sorbet, the drinks package, the evening food, the DJ and the honeymoon suite. Yes, and it is priced for it. Exclusive use gives you the whole of Holdsworth House for 24 hours from 11am on the day: every room, the gardens, the lounges, the bar and the restaurant, with no other hotel guests or diners anywhere, and all 32 bedrooms with breakfast. It is added to the Signature or Twilight package: £8,000 on a Friday or Saturday with 100 or more day guests, £9,500 with fewer, £9,000 Sunday to Thursday, and £3,995 for a winter wedding this season. Most of them can. There are 32 bedrooms in the house: doubles, twins, family rooms and suites, so 64 adults two to a room, more with the family rooms and extra beds, and children on the suites' sofa beds and in cots. With exclusive use every room is yours with breakfast; otherwise guests book direct at the wedding rate. For a party bigger than the house we recommend hotels and guest houses nearby, and the morning after everyone who stayed has breakfast together in the restaurant.

Neither. Holdsworth House hosts one wedding a day, whatever its size, so the team and the kitchen are yours from the first canapé to the last dance. With 120 in the Stuart Room the house is full in the best way: the ceremony, the breakfast, the party and the bedrooms all under one roof, and nobody else's event next door.

Free parking at the house for around 60 cars, with accessible spaces by the door, and the lane outside is free to park on for the overflow. Halifax station is three miles away, ten minutes in a taxi, and we can put you in touch with coach and minibus firms for guests staying elsewhere.

Yes. Bands, DJs, dance floors, stylists, photographers and entertainers are yours to choose, from the suppliers we recommend or your own. Tell your wedding coordinator early so the layout and timings work for your numbers. The one thing that is always ours is the food and drink: all catering comes from the Holdsworth House kitchen and bar.

Yes. Holdsworth House has hosted civil ceremonies and receptions for Asian couples and their families, with menus shaped for the guest list and halal meat sourced and prepared for it. We are licensed for civil marriages and civil partnerships, so the religious ceremony happens at your place of worship and the celebration here, for up to 120 day and 150 evening guests.

Yes, with a little planning. There is a ground-floor accessible bedroom with wide doorways and a walk-in shower, accessible parking and an accessible cloakroom near reception, ramps to the function rooms, and level routes outside the building between the main rooms. The house is a Grade II* listed Jacobean manor from 1633, so there is no lift; tell your coordinator who is coming and we plan the routes with you. The guest accommodation page shows which rooms are on the ground floor.

Yes. Civil marriages and civil partnerships can take place in any of the rooms, including the Stone Gazebo, one of the smallest licensed wedding venues in the country, and outdoors from May to September in the gardens, the Colonnade Courtyard and the Barn Courtyard. The whole day happens here: ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening party. The bar serves wedding guests until midnight, music ends at 12.30am, and hotel residents can use the bar until 1am.

The Halifax Registrars conduct civil ceremonies and partnerships here. Once we have held your date you book them directly with the Register Office on 01422 288080; the 14-day hold exists so you can do that before you confirm with us. Celebrant-led and humanist ceremonies are welcome in every space too, with the legal part done separately.

Not the ceremony itself: the house is not a designated religious venue. Many couples marry at their church, mosque, temple or synagogue and hold the reception and evening here; a blessing in one of our rooms after a legal ceremony elsewhere is welcome.

A changing room in the house is set aside for the bridal party on the morning of the wedding. Most couples also book a bedroom for the night before, which turns the morning from a rush into a lie-in, and the Bridal Morning Treats Table (£19.95 a head) brings chocolate-dipped strawberries, canapés and Bucks Fizz to the room.

Yes. Bring table decorations and guest gifts the day before and we store them safely. You are unlikely to have access to the function room before the morning of the wedding, but the team can place simple table decorations and gifts for you if you give clear instructions and agree it in advance with your wedding coordinator.

Yes. Your dogs are welcome at the ceremony and around the day, though not in the restaurant or function rooms while food is being served. Dog-friendly bedrooms are on the ground floor at £30 a night for the dog. The dog-friendly policy has the detail.

Very welcome. There is a children's menu (three courses, £45 a child day guest on the Signature package) or half portions of the adult dishes, children do not count towards minimum numbers, and for the night the suites have sofa beds for two children up to 12, with extra beds and cots in most other rooms. Ask about the sweet stall for the evening.

Yes. Any of the 32 bedrooms can be reserved in advance with a £50 non-refundable deposit per room per night; call reception on 01422 240024 and we hold them against your wedding. Guests then call to take a room at the wedding rate, quoting your surnames and the date. The wedding guest accommodation page has the rates for 2026 to 2028.

In 2027, £158 a night for a house double or twin and £229 for a suite, two sharing, with breakfast, parking and WiFi. It is only available by calling the hotel direct; online and on other websites the same room shows at the standard rate.

Breakfast in the restaurant for everyone who stayed, together. Check-out is 11am, or midday for £25 if you pre-book it. The Farmhouse Treatment Rooms beside the house take bookings for the morning after too.

There is a ground-floor accessible bedroom with wide doorways and a walk-in shower, accessible parking and an accessible cloakroom near reception, and ramps to the function rooms. The house has no lift. Three stepped areas on the ground floor can be avoided by the routes outside the building: the quickest way from reception to the Stuart Room for a wheelchair user is about ten metres outdoors across the car park through the room's fire doors.
