CIVIL PARTNERSHIPS AND MARRIAGES
Holdsworth House warmly welcomes all couples to its historic halls. The hotel is fully licensed for marriage ceremonies and civil partnerships, indoors and out.
We are very proud to host many events from the LGBT community.
WEDDING CEREMONY ROOMS
A LARGE WEDDING VENUE
The Stuart Room is the largest suite in the hotel and can host up to 120 guests for a wedding reception and 150 at an evening party. This function room has a large private bar, stage area, cloakroom, lounge facilities, dance floor and adjoining Colonnade Courtyard. The Stuart Room is adjacent to the kitchens, meaning your reception meal is served fresh and hot.
For the marriage or civil partnership ceremony we create an aisle down the centre of the Stuart Room with the wedding chairs. We've shown the aisle styled with simple candle-filled lanterns. After the ceremony, we will turn the room round for your reception meal – usually while you and your guests are having photographs, drinks and canapes n the gardens or bar and lounges.
For your wedding reception, the chairs and tables can be set in many layouts. We've shown it here in the traditional layout – round tables for 10 or 12 guests and a top table on the stage. It is possible to create a hollow-square (see our wedding gallery) or long banqueting tables. Some couples choose not to have a top table, it's up to you. Whatever you want to seat your guests, talk to us about your ideas.
For the evening party, the tables and chairs will be moved to the edges of the room, revealing the central dance floor beneath the carpet. Party DJs or live bands can be positioned at the back of the room or on the stage.
MID-SIZE WEDDING VENUE
The Abraham Brigg Room is a ground-floor wedding ceremony room at Holdsworth House. It is popular for marriages and civil partnerships with 40 to 80 guests. After the ceremony, you'll have your wedding reception meal and evening party in the Stuart Room, so your guests get to see more of the hotel.
Small Wedding Venue
Holdsworth House specialises in small weddings. Available Mondays to Thursdays, an intimate midweek wedding gives you the ultimate in romance and a fabulous price.
For small weddings we use The Ayrton Room or De Aldworth Room - originally both first floor bedrooms; The Beatles slept in these rooms in 1964.
The rooms are perfect for marriages and civil partnerships up to 20 guests; you might decide to get married in one and dine in the other. Alternatively the ground floor Hall with it's wooden floor, the Mullion Room with its impressive fireplace or the Panel Room are equally beautiful for smaller marriage ceremonies and receptions.
The Stone Gazebo, beside the sunken Parterre garden, is a totally unique space for weddings in warmer months, for up to 10 guests. Originally a summer house or private chapel, the Stone Gazebo was built around 1633 and has stencilled walls, stone fireplace and wooden floor.
Outdoor Wedding Venue
The beautiful backdrop of Holdsworth House makes a stunning setting for an outdoor marriage or civil partnership ceremony.
You can tie-the-knot with up to 120 wedding guests, anytime from May to September.
Choose a Garden Wedding on the lawns for up to 120 guests or the hidden Colonnade Courtyard for up to 60 guests.
