Room 20 adjoins split-level suite 19 for a family that wants two bedrooms and one door between them. In the House rooms an extra bed is £30 a night and a cot £20; interconnecting rooms are charged at the full rate for each.

A dog-friendly hotel, for decades
A number of the ground-floor House rooms are dog-friendly. £30 a night per dog, and in the room before you arrive are a bowl, a blanket and a towel for the paws. Waste bags and a disposal point are outside, the gardens are the last walk of the night, and for dogs not on a diet there is a sausage at breakfast.
Dogs are welcome in the Long Bar, the lounge and the gardens, and only guide and assistance dogs in the restaurant. The Pampered Pup Package puts dinner, bed and breakfast for you and a welcome pack for them into one booking.
“Ozzy, our mini schnauzer, was treated like royalty, with his own bowl and blanket waiting in the room, plus smiles, pats and dog treats wherever he went. We’ll definitely be returning.”
A guest review

Room 9, on the ground floor
Our accessible room is on the ground floor, with a walk-in shower room and a bed 69 cm from the floor to the top of the mattress. An accessible parking space is by the rear entrance and there is an adapted toilet near reception. Several other House rooms have walk-in showers and are on the ground floor, so tell us what would help and we will find the right one.
Holdsworth House is a Grade II* listed house of 1633 and has no lift; there are steps to the restaurant and some of the function rooms, and ramps are available on request. Ring 01422 240024 or email info@holdsworthhouse.co.uk before you book and we will talk it through.

Cooked to order, 7.30 to 10 every morning
The full Yorkshire from the grill with our own black pudding, eggs Benedict with Yorkshire ham, pancakes with maple syrup, or the continental table if you are being good. Vegetarian and gluten-free on request; just say when you book. Breakfast is served in the restaurant from 7.30am to 10am, seven days a week; if you need it earlier or later, ask and we will see what we can do.
Room service runs for food and drinks: dial 0 from the phone in your room. Breakfast in bed is on the menu too.
Corporate stays and regular visitors
Booking direct always gets our best rate, and if you are in Halifax for work regularly there is a corporate rate for frequent and longer stays. We have looked after business guests, meetings and residential conferences for decades: a quiet house ten minutes from the centre, desks in the rooms, dinner on site and meeting rooms across the hall.
Booking terms, in plain English
Check-in and check-out
Check-in is from 3pm and check-out by 11am. Early check-in from 12 noon or late check-out to 12 noon is £30 a room, subject to availability; add it when you book or ask at reception.
Cancelling a room-only or bed and breakfast booking
A valid debit or credit card secures the booking and nothing is taken in advance. Cancel free of charge up to 12 noon the day before arrival; after that the full room rate is charged.
Packages, promotional rates and advance purchase
Packages and promotional rates are paid in full when you book and refunded in full if you cancel seven days or more before arrival; inside seven days there is no refund. Advance purchase rates are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Booked through someone else?
If you booked through a third party, amendments and cancellations go through them and their terms apply; ring them first and us second.
The one wedding party policy
Holdsworth House hosts one wedding a day, never two, and gives its own wedding party first call on the rooms. Guests of a wedding taking place elsewhere cannot stay or use the house within the same 24 hours as a wedding here; any such booking is cancelled and refunded in full.
Extras and the bill
Extras and additional charges are settled before you leave. Dogs are £30 a night per dog in the dog-friendly rooms; extra beds £30 and cots £20 a night.
The full booking policy is on our terms page.
“We had a lovely few days here celebrating our golden wedding anniversary. All the staff were very friendly and professional. The food was delicious and the room was pleasant and spotless.”
Michelle Horton, on GoogleTen questions, answered
Does the room have a bath or a shower?
It depends on the room. The split-level suites and room 40 have a bath with a shower over it; three executive suites have a bath and a separate walk-in shower and three a large walk-in shower; the House rooms are a mix of both. Tell us which you would prefer in the special requests box when you book, and if the room you are given is not right, say at reception and we will move you if we can.
Can we book a twin room online?
Yes. Book a House room and ask for a twin in the special requests box: seven of the House rooms have zip-and-link beds that make up as two singles. Or ring 01422 240024 and we will set it up for you.
Which rooms have four-posters?
Room 40, the bridal suite; executive suite 14; and most of the split-level suites. Ask for one by number when you book.
Can we check in early or leave late?
Check-in is from 3pm and check-out by 11am. Early check-in from noon or late check-out to noon is £30 a room, subject to availability. If you arrive before your room is ready we will keep your bags and you can have a drink by the fire.
Is there parking?
Yes, free, for sixty cars, right outside. There is an accessible space by the rear entrance.
Is there a lift?
No. Holdsworth House was built in 1633 and the rooms are in the two wings behind reception on the ground and first floors. Ask for a ground-floor room if stairs are a problem; room 9 is our accessible room.
Can we bring the dog?
Yes, in one of the ground-floor dog-friendly rooms at £30 a night per dog, with a bowl, a blanket and a towel waiting. Dogs are welcome in the Long Bar, the lounge and the gardens; only guide and assistance dogs in the restaurant.
Where do the children sleep?
On the sofa bed in an executive or split-level suite, two children aged 12 or under at no charge; in an extra bed (£30 a night) or a cot (£20) in a House room that takes one; or in room 20, which adjoins split-level suite 19.
Which rooms have a patio?
Three of the six executive suites open onto a small private patio of their own; no other rooms do. Ask for one when you book and we will do our best.
What is in the room?
White Company toiletries, proper pillows, a tray with real coffee (a Nespresso machine in the suites, a cafetière in the House rooms), bottled water, a desk, a chair and free Wi-Fi. Robes are in the suites.
