An hour in the sauna, with nobody else in it
A private infrared sauna suite at The Farmhouse: book it for one, two, three or four, with a robe each and the relaxation lounge afterwards. Next door, the Soak Room, where a deep bath is drawn for you with salts, oils and 45 minutes of quiet, booked by phone.

Gentler heat, and the door shut behind you
An infrared sauna warms you directly rather than heating the air, so it runs cooler than a traditional sauna and most people are comfortable in it for far longer. Ours is a cedar cabin in its own suite at The Farmhouse, with a changing area and chairs by the window, and you book the whole suite: for the hour, it is only you.
Come on its own as a reset, or before a massage so the muscles are warm when the therapist starts. Water and a robe are waiting, and the relaxation lounge and its refreshments are included afterwards.

GROUND bath salts for the Soak Room
A bath, drawn for you
A deep freestanding bath under the window of a stone room, with an armchair and soft linen beside it. We draw it to temperature with Himalayan salts and GROUND oils, start you with a body scrub, and leave you to 45 minutes of it with a heated eye mask and your choice of quiet music or a guided meditation. A body oil and a face balm finish it.

What do we wear in the sauna?
Swimwear, or a towel; a robe is provided for the walk between the suite and the lounge. Bring a hair tie and leave jewellery and anything metal in the changing area.
How hot is an infrared sauna?
Gentler than a traditional sauna. Infrared warms the body directly rather than heating the air, so the cabin runs cooler and most people are comfortable for far longer. Drink the water, step out whenever you want to, and go gently the first time.
Who should not use it?
If you are pregnant, have a heart condition or low blood pressure, are unwell, or have had a drink, give it a miss or ask your GP first. Tell us about anything relevant on the consultation form and the spa team will advise.
Can we have the sauna and a treatment?
Yes, and in that order if you can: warm muscles make a better massage. Book both online, leave fifteen minutes between them, and the lounge is there before, between and after.
How many of us can go in?
Up to four, and you book the whole suite whatever the number: £40 for one, £60 for two, £80 for three, £100 for four, for the hour.
How do we book the Soak Room?
By phone, on 01422 240024, as the baths are not in the online diary yet. Say which ritual you would like, or decide on the day with your sensory test, and the spa team will give you the price. Forty-five minutes.
Is there an age limit?
The Farmhouse is for guests aged 18 and over.
How do we pay, and what if we need to cancel?
Treatments and spa days are paid in full when you book, by card, unless they are part of a hotel package or paid with a voucher. The cancellation terms are shown before you pay; if your plans change, ring us as early as you can on 01422 240024 and we will do what we can with the diary.
