An overnight stay with dinner
Dinner in the restaurant, a night in a House room and breakfast cooked to order. One booking, nothing else to arrange.

Explore the hotel grounds. Find a cosy corner. Relax.
Free parking at the door. Check in at reception. Settle into your room. Then take a stroll around the gardens, settle down by the fire or head straight to the bar. Our staff are only too happy to show you around, answer any questions or tell you a bit about the history of the house.

Thirty-two rooms, no two the same
Each of our House doubles and twins is uniquely decorated: William Morris wallpapers, occasional chairs, proper pillows, White Company toiletries and a tray with real coffee. Some rooms have a bath with a shower over it, some a walk-in shower, and a few have both, so tell us which you’d prefer when you book. Should you wish, you can upgrade to a split-level or executive suite when you book.

A drink first, in the Long Bar
We’ve curated more than sixty gins, most of them from Yorkshire and the North, real ales, and excellent wines by the glass. Choose a chair under an arched window with views of the Colonnade Courtyard, or on a warm evening take your drinks into the formal gardens.

A seasonal à la carte menu, with daily specials
Head Chef Matt Rush’s à la carte menu has something for everyone: seasonal starters, luxurious mains, dry-aged steaks and house favourites, with plenty of sides, indulgent desserts and a special selection of local cheeses. Our extensive wine list has been carefully curated to match the menu, and there are non-alcoholic wines, cocktails and soft drinks too. Dinner is served in our three intimate dining rooms, each with an open fireplace. If you have a preference, please ask when you book.

The house after dark
Enjoy a nightcap by the fire in the hall, beside the staircase the Beatles climbed in 1964. When you’re ready, make your way to your room and a bed you will not want to leave.

Breakfast, cooked to order
The full Yorkshire from the grill, eggs Benedict with Yorkshire ham, pancakes with maple syrup, or something lighter from the continental table. Take your time: check-out is 11am, or noon if you add the late check-out.

Make the most of your stay with a treatment in The Farmhouse
A full treatment menu for The Farmhouse Treatment Rooms is in your room, on our website and at reception. Treatments are 60, 90 or 120 minutes, and afterwards you can enjoy the Farmhouse relaxation rooms or book some time in our private infrared sauna suite.

“Everything about this hotel is first class. Dinner was incredible.”
LPS1981, Newcastle, on Tripadvisor, March 2026Seven questions, answered
What does the £40 dining credit cover?
Food from the à la carte or the Garden menu, in the restaurant or the Long Bar. Drinks are extra. Eat for less than £40 and the difference is not refunded; eat for more and the rest goes on your bill.
Can we choose our room?
You choose the room type when you book: House double or twin, executive suite, split-level suite. Add a note if you have a favourite room number or want a four-poster and we will always do our best.
Is dinner in the restaurant or the bar?
Either. The restaurant serves the à la carte from 6.30pm; the Garden menu runs in the Long Bar and the lounge. We will hold a table for you when you book; we just ask that you confirm the time before you arrive.
Can we bring the children?
Very welcome. Several rooms take families, with an extra bed (£30 a night), a cot (£20 a night) or interconnecting rooms at the full rate for each. Split-level and executive suites have a double sofa bed for up to two children aged 11 or under, included in the room rate. Baby changing is in the reception cloakroom.
Can we bring the dog?
Yes, in one of the dog-friendly rooms at £25 a night, with a blanket, a bowl and towels by the door. Dogs are welcome in the Long Bar and the lounge; only guide and assistance dogs in the restaurant. Or book the Pampered Pup Package, which has all of that and a welcome pack built in.
Does the room have a bath or a shower?
It depends on the room. Some have a bath with a shower over it, some a walk-in shower, and a few have both: the split-level suites all have a bath with a shower over it, three of the executive suites have a bath and a separate walk-in shower, and the other three a large walk-in shower. Tell us which you’d prefer when you book. If the room you’re given isn’t right, just say at reception and if there’s something else free we’ll happily move you.
What if we need to cancel?
Packages are paid in full when you book. Cancel seven days or more before arrival and the whole amount is refunded; inside seven days there is no refund. Ring reception on 01422 240024 if your dates need to move and we will do what we can.
