For several years now, we’ve invited top Yorkshire florist Karen Longbottom and her team at Finishing Touches Florist shop in Huddersfield, to teach her skills at Holdsworth House.
In November 2018, Karen arrived with masses of ready-mossed door rings, bags of spruce cuttings, baskets of baubles, deliciously scented dried fruits and reems of ribbons. Hosting two workshops over two days, Karen explained in detail her professional tips on making a festive door ring that’s packed full of interest, and one that will last all the way up Christmas.
Afternoon tea and the ‘shake test’
Afterwards, guests enjoyed a full afternoon tea at the hotel before collecting their finished door rings on their way out – but not before Karen had done the all-important ‘shake test’, which involves giving each wreath a gentle shake to ensure no decorations or foliage falls out!
The feedback from guests who attended was excellent, we hope Karen will be back again next year.
