A Show Round is About Listening
A show round at Holdsworth House isn't a sales pitch. It's a conversation. We'd rather understand what you want from your wedding day than tell you what we offer.
You'll spend around 45 to 60 minutes with Chris, our General Manager, or another senior member of the team. We'll walk the house and gardens at a relaxed pace, show you the ceremony rooms, the dining space, the bar and the bedrooms. We'll talk through how a wedding day flows here and answer whatever you'd like to ask. There's usually a glass of something waiting.
Most couples know within ten minutes whether a venue feels right. We're not going to push you either way. Have a wander, have a chat, and decide in your own time.
From the First Visit to the Day Itself
The team you meet on the show round is the team that looks after you on your wedding day. Many of us have been here for years. Chris for over a decade, Mikhaila on reception for seventeen, Ruby since she was sixteen.
From the moment you book, you'll have a dedicated wedding coordinator, regular check-ins, and someone at the end of the phone whenever you need them. We've hosted over a thousand weddings between us. We know what works, what causes stress, and how to handle the small things so you don't have to.
Packages are the Starting Point
Our wedding packages cover what every wedding needs: the ceremony space, the wedding breakfast, the evening reception, the bar, the bedrooms for you and your parents. From there, the wedding is yours.
We've never run two weddings the same and we don't intend to start now. A wedding is a big financial commitment, and we'll always work with you on the budget you have. The packages give you a clear starting price and a sensible structure. Conversation does the rest.
Holding Your Date
Choosing a wedding venue is a deeply personal decision and one of the biggest you'll make together. We'll hold your date for fourteen days at no cost while you talk it through, and we'll do our best to extend that if you need a little longer.
If another couple wants the same date during your hold, we'll always call you first. You'll never lose a date without us speaking to you about it.
Payments, Spread Over Twelve Months
A deposit secures your date. The remaining balance is then spread across four scheduled instalments over the year before your wedding, so the cost doesn't land in one go. There are no hidden costs in the package, and your agreed price is your price. Your contract lays everything out clearly.
Six months to two years is a long time in anyone's life. If circumstances change between booking and your wedding day, talk to us. We've worked with couples through illness, family bereavement, relocations and a global pandemic. Where we can postpone or rearrange, we will. The deposit secures the date; what's around it can almost always be reshaped. We'll also recommend wedding insurance at the point of booking, which covers most of the rest.
The Wedding Tasting
A few months before your wedding, you'll come back for the tasting. This isn't a quick try-the-canapés affair. It takes place in our restaurant as a proper romantic dinner for two. Starter, sorbet, main, dessert, with red and white wines from your wedding menu, served exactly as it will be on the day. We want you to enjoy it.
A senior member of the team is on hand throughout to talk you through each course, suggest tweaks, and finalise the menu with you. The tasting is part of every wedding package. Nothing to pay on the day unless you order extras.

The wedding team is small, experienced, and has been together a long time. You'll meet some of us on the show round and the rest as your wedding takes shape.
Ruby O'Callaghan
Ruby has worked at Holdsworth House since she was sixteen, starting in the restaurant and now coordinating weddings full-time. She'll be one of the people guiding you through the planning, and on the day itself she'll keep things calm and on track so you can enjoy it.

Most show rounds are led by Chris Meehan, our General Manager. Chris has been here for over a decade and has overseen more than 500 weddings. Where Chris isn't available, you'll meet another senior member of the wedding team. You'll meet the wider team as your planning progresses.
Yes, please do. A second opinion can be useful. Many couples bring a parent, sibling or close friend. Just let us know roughly how many of you are coming so we can have enough chairs and drinks ready.

Yes. We have three licensed outdoor ceremony spaces: the walled gardens at the front of the main house, a secluded courtyard seating up to 80, and our 17th century stone gazebo. We always have a wet weather plan ready, so if the Yorkshire skies don't cooperate, we'll move everything indoors seamlessly.
Yes. We have thirty-three individually designed bedrooms on the estate and every wedding gets a special room rate for guests. Bedrooms for the couple and their parents are included in most packages. Explore our bedrooms.
We're a dog-friendly hotel and well-behaved dogs are welcome at weddings. Just mention it to your coordinator and we'll sort the details.
