Midweek weddings, the same day for less
A Thursday wedding at Holdsworth House is a Saturday wedding in every way but two: the price, and how easy the date is to get. The Stuart Room, four courses, the DJ until 12.30am, the honeymoon suite, one wedding a day. Sunday to Thursday, all of it costs less.
The Signature package midweek is £2,000 to £6,500 less than the same package on a summer Saturday. There are no minimum numbers on any midweek date, four of our wedding packages come in under £5,000, and the diary has far more weeks free than weekends.

Our Signature package does not change with the day of the week: the Stuart Room, a drink and three canapés after the ceremony, four courses with a sorbet, half a bottle of wine each, fizz for the toast, an evening buffet, the DJ until 12.30am and the honeymoon suite. Only the date changes the price. Pick your day guests.

A Thursday that runs like a Saturday
The day is the day. Ceremony in the Stuart Room, the Abraham Brigg Room or, from May to September, the gardens or one of the courtyards. Drinks and canapés outside if the weather allows, four courses in the Stuart Room, the speeches, then the room turns round for the evening and the DJ plays until 12.30am. Breakfast together the next morning.
We host one wedding a day whatever the day, so a Wednesday gets the same team, the same kitchen and the same attention as the busiest Saturday in June. The only people who know it is a Thursday are the ones who booked the day off.

Midweek the hotel is quieter, and that changes the feel of the day. The gardens are yours for the photographs with less chance of hotel guests milling about. The 32 bedrooms are easier to book for the guests who want to stay over, so you all come down to breakfast together to go over the day before.
The Farmhouse Treatment Rooms have far more free slots midweek too, for the morning of the wedding or the day after, when the two of you want an hour that is nobody else's.
The bigger the wedding, the bigger the saving
The midweek price is the same package, so the saving grows with the guest list. A Signature wedding for 120 day and 150 evening guests is £15,995 on a Thursday and £22,495 on a summer Saturday. The Stuart Room seats 120 whatever the day, minimum numbers never apply midweek, and with 32 bedrooms easier to book, most of a big guest list stays over and comes down to the same breakfast.

Small weddings were made for midweek
Most of the weddings we host Sunday to Thursday are for 10 to 60 guests, and the house suits them: 20 people in the De Aldworth Room feels full, not lost. The four courses are the same ones a wedding of 120 eats on a Saturday, from the same kitchen.
The small packages are midweek only, which is what keeps them at the price they are. Marry with 20 on a Thursday and add an evening party for up to 150 with the DJ, a private bar and a hot buffet, and you have had the whole wedding for less than a Saturday's room hire elsewhere.
Will our guests come on a Thursday?
The ones who matter will, and three things make it easy for them.
It is one day off
Tell people the date early and a Thursday wedding becomes a long weekend: the wedding, a lie-in, then Friday off and home on Sunday. Guests who cannot make the day can still come to the evening, up to 150 of them.
Give them a bed
There are 32 bedrooms in the house and they are easier to book midweek. Guests who stay do not drive, do not leave early, and are all at the same breakfast table in the morning. Wedding rates are in the pack.
Sundays count as midweek
Sunday is priced Sunday to Thursday, so a Sunday wedding is the Saturday feel at the midweek price. The Sunday before a bank holiday is the busiest of the year and may carry a minimum spend, so ask about those when you enquire.
What couples ask about midweek
Which days count as a midweek wedding?
Sunday to Thursday, in every month of the year. The four small packages are narrower: Just Good Friends is Sunday to Thursday, the Stone Gazebo and Vintage Tea Party packages are Monday to Thursday, and Just the Two of Us is Monday to Wednesday. Sundays before a bank holiday may carry a minimum spend.
How much cheaper is a midweek wedding at Holdsworth House?
For the Signature package in 2027, Sunday to Thursday is £2,000 to £6,500 less than the same package on a Saturday from April to September, and £500 to £3,500 less than a Friday or Saturday from October to March. The Twilight package is £7,295 midweek against £11,495 to £13,995 on a Saturday. The small packages, from £2,395, are only available midweek.
Do minimum guest numbers apply midweek?
No. Sunday to Thursday weddings have no minimum numbers at any time of year. From 1 April to 30 September a Saturday needs 80 day and 100 evening guests and a Friday 60 day and 80 evening. Children count in your final numbers but not towards any minimum.
Can we get a registrar on a weekday?
Yes, and it is usually easier than a Saturday. Once we have held your date you book the registrar directly with the Halifax Register Office on 01422 288080. We hold a date for 14 days with no obligation so you can do that before you confirm.
Can we add an evening party to a small midweek package?
Yes. Just Good Friends and the other small packages can add an evening party for up to 150 guests with a professional DJ until 12.30am, a private bar and a hot buffet. Tell us your evening numbers and we price it with the package.
Most midweek dates are still free
Saturdays go first, often more than a year ahead. Midweek dates are usually still free a few months out, which is why couples who want to be married this year come to us. Tell us a month and your numbers and we will send the dates that are free and the price for each.
