The door closes behind you
A bottle of Champagne is chilling in the room and a box of handmade chocolates sits beside it. Robes on the door, White Company toiletries in the bathroom and, if you ask for a room with one when you book, a deep bath worth running early. Free parking at the door, and check-in is from 3pm; should you wish, add early check-in from noon when you book.
A drink in the Long Bar
We’ve curated more than sixty gins, most of them from Yorkshire and the North, with Chablis by the glass and cocktails made properly. Choose two armchairs under the arched window that looks onto the Colonnade Courtyard, or on a warm evening take your drinks out into the formal gardens.
A table for two, candlelit
£40 per person towards dinner in one of our three intimate dining rooms, each with oak panelling and its own open fire. Head Chef Matt Rush’s seasonal à la carte has something for everyone: seasonal starters, dry-aged steaks, indulgent desserts and a special selection of local cheeses. We can cater for most dietary requirements on request; just tell us when you book. If you have a room in mind, ask when you book and we’ll do our best.
Make it a four-poster
House doubles are the starting point: uniquely decorated, with William Morris wallpapers, cosy occasional chairs, proper pillows and a tray with real coffee. For the full effect, upgrade when you book to an executive suite with a four-poster bed, or a split-level suite with a sitting room downstairs and the bed up its own staircase.
Breakfast in bed
Our famous Yorkshire breakfast, or something gentler, on a tray at your door at the time you choose. Check-out is 11am; add the late check-out and make it noon.

Prices are per night for two sharing a House Double on our quietest nights, Sunday to Wednesday. Fridays, Saturdays and suites cost more; the booking page shows the exact price for your dates before you pay.
Check-in from 3pm, check-out by 11am. Early check-in from noon or late check-out to noon, £30 each per room, added when you book.
The £40 dining credit is towards food and does not apply to drinks. Paid in full when you book, refunded in full if you cancel seven days or more before arrival.

Can we have breakfast in the restaurant instead?
Of course. Just tell reception the night before.
Can we upgrade to a suite?
Yes, on the booking page: executive suites with four-posters, or split-level suites with a sitting room downstairs.
Is the Champagne a full bottle?
Yes. A full bottle of the house Champagne, chilled and in the room before you arrive.
Can you help with a proposal?
Tell us when you book. The Stone Gazebo in the gardens has seen a few, and reception can arrange the small things.
Can we buy it as a gift?
Yes, as a voucher, valid for a year, posted in a card or emailed within minutes if you’ve left it late.
Does the room have a bath or a shower?
It depends on the room. Some have a bath with a shower over it, some a walk-in shower, and a few have both: the split-level suites all have a bath with a shower over it, three of the executive suites have a bath and a separate walk-in shower, and the other three a large walk-in shower. Tell us which you’d prefer when you book. If the room you’re given isn’t right, just say at reception and if there’s something else free we’ll happily move you.
What if we need to cancel?
Packages are paid in full when you book. Cancel seven days or more before arrival and the whole amount is refunded; inside seven days there is no refund. Ring reception on 01422 240024 if your dates need to move and we will do what we can.
