The Pampered Pup Package
Dinner, bed and breakfast for you. A welcome pack, a blanket, a bowl and a sausage at breakfast for them. Everyone gets a holiday.

Paws on the gravel, towels by the door
We’ve welcomed dogs here for decades, so nobody blinks at a muddy one. There are towels by the entrances for the paws, the walks start at the gate, and our team know the good ones. Check in at reception, then let them have a sniff around the gardens while you settle in.

A blanket and a bowl, waiting for them
A blanket and a bowl are in the room before you arrive, and the gardens are a short walk away for the last outing of the night. Like all our rooms, each dog-friendly room is uniquely decorated, with William Morris wallpapers, cosy occasional chairs and a modern bathroom (a bath with a shower over it or a walk-in shower; tell us which you’d prefer when you book). Up to two dogs are welcome; the second is £25 a night.

The welcome pack, modelled by Willow
Our hotel pup Willow shows you what’s in the bag: Sleepy Bones treats for bedtime, a rope tug toy to take home, waste bags, a Holdsworth House biscuit, a Sir Woofchester’s treat pot (Bark Burger, Bark Bangers or Sunday Roast) and a packet of grain-free snacks.

Dinner together, in the Long Bar
£40 per person towards dinner. Eat in the Long Bar or the lounge with your dog at your feet, from the Garden menu or the à la carte, and pick a spot by the fire or under the arched window. If they’d rather sleep it off upstairs, take a table in one of our three intimate dining rooms instead; only guide and assistance dogs come into the restaurant itself. We can cater for most dietary requirements on request; just tell us when you book.

Our famous Yorkshire breakfast, with a sausage for them
The full Yorkshire cooked to order for you, and a sausage from the grill for the dog. Breakfast with dogs is served in the Long Bar, with the courtyard outside the window for the first walk of the day.

Moors, mills and a railway that takes dogs
Ogden Water, Shibden Hall Park and Manor Heath are minutes away (dog control orders apply in Calderdale’s parks). Hardcastle Crags and Gibson Mill make a full day on leads. The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, the Piece Hall and Yorkshire Sculpture Park all welcome dogs too. Not sure where to start? Just ask at reception; they’ll point you to the right one and there’s a local attractions leaflet to take with you. More ideas on our attractions page.

“Fantastic stay with superb food and first class service. We booked to bring our dog with us and this was catered for perfectly. Some lovely ideas like towels at the entrance for muddy paws.”
Dan G, Malton, on TripadvisorSeven questions, answered
How many dogs can we bring?
Two per room. The package covers one; add the second for £25 a night when you book.
Where can the dog go?
Your room, the Long Bar, the lounge, the gardens and the walk over to The Farmhouse. Not the restaurant, unless they’re a guide or assistance dog.
Can we leave the dog in the room while we eat?
Yes, if they’re happy on their own. Hang the Let Sleeping Dogs Lie sign on the door so housekeeping knows, and tell the team where you’re sitting.
Where are the nearest walks?
Ogden Water, Shibden Hall Park, Manor Heath Park and Beechwood Park are all a short drive. Reception has directions and the local attractions leaflet.
Is there a size limit?
No. Big dogs, small dogs, and two of them if you like. Tell us the breed when you book so the right room is ready.
Does the room have a bath or a shower?
It depends on the room. Some have a bath with a shower over it, some a walk-in shower, and a few have both: the split-level suites all have a bath with a shower over it, three of the executive suites have a bath and a separate walk-in shower, and the other three a large walk-in shower. Tell us which you’d prefer when you book. If the room you’re given isn’t right, just say at reception and if there’s something else free we’ll happily move you.
What if we need to cancel?
Packages are paid in full when you book. Cancel seven days or more before arrival and the whole amount is refunded; inside seven days there is no refund. Ring reception on 01422 240024 if your dates need to move and we will do what we can.
