Sorting the office party? Consider it done.
If the Christmas party has landed on your desk, you're carrying everyone's expectations. What you need is a venue that takes it off your hands: one enquiry, one quote, one person looking after you.
That's how we run Christmas gatherings and parties at Holdsworth House. Dinner, drinks, DJ, bedrooms, dietary requirements and timings, all handled by an events team that does this every week of the year.

Confirm and relax
Date secured, details handled. From here we take the strain and you go back to your day job.
The organiser deserves something back. Book a show round and afternoon tea for two is on us, or swap it for a 30-minute treatment in The Farmhouse Treatment Rooms. And when you confirm a party of 40 or more, we'll invite the organiser in for a free menu tasting.
Worth knowing for the budget sign-off: HMRC's annual function exemption means a staff Christmas party costing up to £150 per head (including VAT) can usually be provided tax-free for employees, provided it's open to all staff and the total cost of qualifying annual events stays within the £150 per person annual limit. The figure includes all event costs, not just food and drink. Your accountant can confirm how the exemption applies to your business, but it can make investing in a great Christmas celebration more cost-effective than many employers realise.
Asked back, year after year
Plenty of the companies celebrate with us each December and book again before January is out.
★★★★★“Easiest Christmas party I've ever organised. The food was superb, and I got to enjoy the night myself.”
★★★★★“The setting was really special before. Some of us stayed over and breakfast the morning after was the best debrief we've had all year.”
★★★★★“We've already booked for next year. Nobody complained about anything... anyone who has organised an office party before knows this is a miracle.”
The questions every organiser asks us
How many guests can we bring?
From 8 in the Ayrton Room to 120 in the Stuart Room, which has its own bar, cloakroom and dance floor. Private party nights suit groups of 40 or more; smaller teams are well looked after with private festive dining, or a private-hire day at The Farmhouse Treatment Rooms.
Is the party private, or do we share with other companies?
Private. Your room is yours for the night. This isn't a shared party night with strangers on the next table. For total privacy you can take the whole hotel on an exclusive-use basis, including all 32 bedrooms.
What does it cost?
Private party nights (40 guests or more) start from £58.50 per person, including a three-course festive dinner or buffet and a late-night DJ and disco. Private festive dining for 14 to 40 guests is priced per menu plus a room hire fee. Exclusive use of the hotel is quoted per event, from £14,500 ex VAT as a guide. Every quote is itemised, with no hidden extras.
Can you handle dietary requirements?
Yes. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and allergies are all catered for by our kitchen, so no one feels left out. Send us the list and we'll take it from there.
What about colleagues who don't drink?
They're catered for just as well as everyone else, with a good selection of soft drinks, non-alcoholic beers, wines and cocktails. Nothing is an afterthought.
Can people stay over?
Yes. We have 32 bedrooms, so your team can add an overnight stay with a full Yorkshire breakfast rather than queue for taxis. Ask for bedroom rates with your quote and we'll hold a block alongside your booking.
What about parking and getting to Holdsworth House?
Free on-site parking. We're ten minutes from Halifax train station and a straightforward drive from Bradford, Huddersfield and Leeds.
When should we book?
Now! December Thursdays and Fridays go first, and most companies confirm between September and November. If you have a date in mind, ask us about it now; it costs nothing to check.
How do we confirm, and what are the payment terms?
Enquire below, by email or by phone. A room hire fee applies for private dining rooms. Your quote will set out exactly what's due and when.
Is the hotel accessible?
The building dates to 1633, so access varies by room. The Stuart Room and Abraham Brigg Room are on the ground floor with step-free access from the car park. Let us know any access requirements with your enquiry and we'll recommend the most suitable spaces.
A party your CSR report can be proud of
Looking after a Grade II* listed building from 1633 makes sustainability second nature. We restore and reuse furniture, we try source antiques instead of buying new, and maintain the building for the generations after us.
Day-to-day we employ local staff and suppliers wherever possible, energy-efficient renovations, minimal chemical use in the hotel and its gardens, comprehensive recycling, and grounds planted for pollinators with natural fertilisers.
