Once a provisional reservation has been made, we will hold your chosen wedding date for 14 days. If a deposit is not received within this period, the provisional booking will be released automatically.
To secure your wedding date at Holdsworth House, we require a £2,000 non-refundable, non-transferable deposit.
Minimum guest numbers apply from 1st April to 31st December:
- Saturdays: Minimum 80 daytime guests and 100 evening guests
- Sundays before a Bank Holiday: Minimum 80 daytime guests and 100 evening guests
- Fridays and all other Sundays: Minimum 60 daytime guests and 80 evening guests
- Midweek weddings (Monday to Thursday): No minimum guest numbers
Most of our weddings are larger celebrations. Holdsworth House can accommodate up to
120 guests (including the couple) for a seated wedding breakfast, with capacity for
up to 150 evening guests.
We host only one wedding per day at Holdsworth House, regardless of the size of the celebration. This ensures our full attention is dedicated to your wedding and your guests throughout the day.
Holdsworth House is fully licensed for marriage ceremonies and can host your entire wedding day, including your ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening reception.
You may choose to marry in any room within the house. This includes the Gazebo, known as the smallest wedding venue in England, as well as outdoor ceremonies beneath the Colonnade Courtyard or in the Garden Gazebo.
The hotel is licensed to serve alcohol to wedding guests until midnight, with music ending at 12.30am. Hotel residents may continue to enjoy the bar until 1.00am.
Yes, the couple’s dogs are welcome at weddings at Holdsworth House. Dogs may attend the ceremony and be part of your day, however they are not permitted in the restaurant or function rooms while food is being served.

Of course. Holdsworth House welcomes weddings of all couples, and we are proud to offer an inclusive, supportive environment for everyone.
Yes, unless you choose Exclusive Use, there may be other hotel guests and restaurant diners on site. However, they do not have access to the areas designated for your wedding party.
Religious ceremonies cannot be held at Holdsworth House, as it is not a designated religious venue. Couples are welcome to marry at a religious venue of their choice and then hold their wedding reception and evening celebration with us.
Civil marriages and civil partnerships are permitted at Holdsworth House and are conducted by the Halifax Registrars.
Yes, you are welcome to bring table decorations or guest gifts to the hotel the day before your wedding and we will store them safely for you.
It is unlikely that you will have access to the function room until the morning of your wedding. Our team can place simple table decorations or gifts on your behalf, provided clear instructions are given and arrangements are agreed in advance.
Please speak with your wedding coordinator to discuss your plans and any specific requirements.
We do not offer a corkage service. Holdsworth House operates a strict policy that prohibits bringing alcohol onto the property. Any alcohol found will be confiscated, and a fee will be charged to the couple in line with the contract signed prior to the wedding.
Holdsworth House does not tolerate the use of illegal drugs or narcotics on the premises. Any illegal substances found on a person or anywhere on site will result in the management notifying the police immediately.
If you are getting married at Holdsworth House, we will allocate one changing room for the bridal party to use on the morning of your wedding.
Many couples also choose to book a bedroom the night before their wedding for added comfort and convenience.
Yes, any bedroom can be reserved in advance with a £50 non-refundable deposit per night.

Yes, Holdsworth House has accessible bedrooms with wide doorways and walk-in showers. Ramps are available to provide wheelchair access to the function rooms, and designated accessible parking spaces and an accessible cloakroom are located close to reception.
As a historic building, Holdsworth House does not have a lift. There are three stepped areas on the ground floor; however, these can be avoided by using the accessible routes outside the building.
For wheelchair users, the quickest route from reception to the Stuart Room is approximately 10 metres outdoors across the car park, accessed via the room’s fire doors.

For intimate weddings of up to 20 daytime guests, the following packages are recommended. These are available midweek, with minimum numbers or spend applying for Fridays and Saturdays.
Just Good Friends Wedding Package
A classic, intimate wedding package designed for close family and friends, catering for 20 guests.

For a more traditional wedding, our Just Good Friends Package is designed for 20 guests. It includes a four-course wedding breakfast, wine selection and an overnight stay in our honeymoon suite with Champagne. You’ll marry in our historic Hall, Abraham Brigg Room or outdoors in the Courtyard*, followed by a traditional reception in a private dining room or the restaurant. Add an evening party for up to 150 guests an extra fee.

VINTAGE TEA PARTY WEDDING PACKAGE
A charming wedding in an historic setting with a relaxed vibe. Available Mondays to Thursdays. Sample price for 20 guests:

Our Vintage Tea Party Package is a less formal small wedding with plenty of treats in store. Your ceremony takes place in the Hall, the Abraham Brigg Room or Stuart Room, or outdoors in the Courtyard* Indulge in a fabulous afternoon tea with sweet and savoury components and our famous home-baked scones, all served on vintage crockery in a private dining room or the restaurant. You can add more daytime guests or an evening party for up to 150 friends and family.

TRADITIONAL SMALL WEDDING PACKAGE

SMALL AND INFORMAL WEDDING PACKAGE
Do away with wedding traditions and enjoy a fun and relaxed marriage and party at Holdsworth House. Available all year round (minimum 80 guests on a Saturday).

The Twilight Wedding Package throws away the rule book on what a wedding should look like. You’ll have all day to plan and prepare for a late afternoon ceremony. Once your marriage or civil partnership ceremony is complete, dive straight into the evening party and don’t stop until 12.30am! This package includes:
Late-afternoon ceremony that runs into an evening reception
A range of options for canapés, drinks, hot evening buffet, BBQ or Hog Roast
DJ until 12.30am
