WHAT’S ON
Ways to the Stone House: Simon Warner Photography Exhibition
28 September 2012 – 03 December 2012
The extraordinary and unique landscape of the South Pennines takes centre stage in the forthcoming exhibition of work by photographer and filmmaker Simon Warner at the Brontë Parsonage Museum in Haworth, Yorkshire. Warner’s videos appear either in miniature, nestled within the accoutrements of the daily life of the Brontë family, or projected onto the walls of the family home. The exhibition imaginatively highlights how the lives of the three Brontë sisters were entwined with the landscape; its influence on their aspirations and inspirations, and a landscape which played such a role within their work.

In collaboration with the artist’s foundations and family, YSP is proud to present the first major UK exhibition of sculpture by Joan Miró, one of Europe’s most important 20th century artists. The exhibition describes the extraordinary wealth of Miró’s sculpture, much of which was made in the second half of his life. With key works set in the landscape, the exhibition fulfils the artist’s desire that “sculpture must stand in the open air, in the middle of nature”.
