Located three miles from Halifax centre, Holdsworth House couldn’t be better placed for exploring the vast and varied landscape of the Yorkshire and South Pennines.

There are a number of beautiful small towns nearby – Haworth, Hebden Bridge, Holmfirth – packed with artisan shops, tea rooms, culture and history that make an excellent day out.

Yorkshire offers some of the world’s most interesting and varied landscapes, perfect for outdoor pursuits – climbing, walking, biking, horse riding, canoeing… the list is endless and the county is well-geared up with professional activity centres whether you’re an expert or a novice.

Once the heart of England’s wool industry, Halifax is a Yorkshire market town and home to some of the region’s best-preserved Georgian and Victorian landmarks.

A must see is the beautiful Piece Hall, which frequently hosts events such as Food Festivals. For families Halifax has a fabulous children’s museum and activity centre Eureka! Theatre lovers and gig goers will be drawn to the ornate Victoria Theatre and its varied calendar of performances, while fans of classical music will welcome the chance to catch Halifax’s historic choral society. For a change of pace, head to the recently renovated Square Chapel Centre for the Arts, and experience everything from comedy workshops and world music, to contemporary dance.

Halifax also has a fantastic Cooking School based at Dean Clough which has a host of inspiring courses. If you’re attending one of the courses, be sure to stay at Holdsworth House just 5 minutes drive away.
